Carrie...It takes a real braveheart to come back and help enlighten us all from your tragedy. I sure do understand your reaction to want to blame that one vet...I was in a very situation when Juana (my female) had elevated uric acid levels...and was so mad (and let the author of a popular iguana diet know it...my bad) because one contributing factor was a diet with purines...Here I had been feeding her peas or green beans almost daily!! but more importantly I didn't provide her with proper humidity and fed her every other day (as suggested in Hatfields and also come to find out says so in Maders too). Chronic dehydration is a KILLER. I now tell everyone feed your igs water sprayed greens EVERYDAY and NO legumes!! lol.
Anyway....Im not wanting to open any wounds...but I am very curious this sentence you wrote.

>>>"The extreme calcification in the multiple tissues examined is called `metastatic calcification' and is caused by oversupplementation of vitamin D and/or ultraviolet light with an adequate dietary supply of calcium. <<<<<

A diagnosis of hypervitamintosis D is extremely rare. Were you supplementing your igs diet with D3? Did your igs get alot of sun?
And did you mean to type " with an adequate supply of calcium" or is it supposed to be an "inadequate" supply of calcium?

It would help me figure some things out regarding D3. I sure would appreciate it if you responded.

We gotta be our own educators...We cannot totally rely on anyone person whether it be a vet, someone's website,a book, or a well meaning person trying to help in a crisis , to provide us with all the answers...sometimes there is no answer....Im very saddened by your loss...at the same time I am very grateful for you coming back and sharing this info with us.
Gina
