I don't know that *I am* failing to look at the big diet picture...lol
Can't find any reason whatsoever to change what I posted. I suggested better choices....we all know about variety and moderation...I suggested Tracie wait till her ig grows then start screwing around with her Igs diet. I stressed that proper diet is crucial for babies & juvies.
No doubt a higher protein diet is reccomended for young igs....but they sure won't get it from parsnips. Most root (underground grown) veggies (ex parsnips, turnips, carrots) have very low protein. Green beans are legumes..legumes are high in phytates (same action as oxalates bind calcium...and purines responsible for gout, kidney disease)There is nothing vague about information when clearly explained in nutritional texts and on the net.Ive fed them to my igs(adult)...very rarely now...I used to feed them alot before I saw the light! I have no power here, I cannot control what people feed their igs...once a person knows what to look for ...including knowing which foods are worthy of an eh! when produce shopping to provide a complete nutritious diet for their ig/s then the sky's the limit. It is about better choices.... and no doubt variety & moderation. Its when these types of foods are offered frequently as part of their daily diet....much later the effects will manifest themselves. Better choices...that's about it...its not like our igs know that phytates are stripping their body of calcium...we gotta do our homework for em. They're worth it I figure.
