As for the calcium carbonate added in that situation......its alkaline reduces acidity, not getting it from foods (mustard replaced by iceberg lettuce) makes sense to add it...given its also phosphorus free pure cal carbonate BUT Im not sure if this was the effect the vet was looking for I think he was going after promoting acidification believing somehow that the iguana was pre-kidney disease/chronic dehydration or ? either way I don't think the cal carbonate addition would of hurt...this of course is my slightly screwed interpretation of it ;o)
