Dry Gangrene

Just wanted to run something by you guys...I noticed tonight that my baby's tail (a couple of inches at the tip) is showing signs of dry gangrene. Darker in color and feels hard and dry.
A friend of mine happens to be a vet. She's great but, not that experienced with herps. She handles the most basic stuff though. She said that the iggy probably whacked her tail on something and cut off the blood supply. Just keep an eye on it. It will fall off on its own. As long as it's dry it shouldn't be a problem. Have heard this from others many times but when it's you, you can't help but worry. Any suggestions most greatfully appreciated.
