This is so very sad...and I do understand how quickly closeness to a pet can happen. What should have been a long time of happiness together was cut short thru circumstances beyond your control. My deepest sympathy to you and your family on your loss.

Perhaps Cuddles came to you so freely and lovingly because she knew you were a person who would recognize that she needed help and seek to ease her pain.
