Cuddles - our newly adopted ig - will have to be put to sleep

Thanks for all your advice and concern but Cuddles is critcally ill and has to be put to sleep. It is incredible how attached you can get to an iguana in just two days.

Cuddles' heart is 3x the normal size and her lungs are filling with fluid. She was mouth breathing because her windpipe is bending up around her enlarged heart and she was just trying to get more air into her watery lungs.

Her eyes were red because of an eye infection and she had a mouth full of mucous. My vet said he had never seen an iguana in this shape, or even with congestive heart failure. He said it was either that or a tumor in her heart, and either way she is too weak for any kind of treatment.

My son is heartbroken, as am I. We have had offers to adopt many iguanas but this one touched our hearts because she loved us and Cuddled with us right away. Ziggy did not like her but then, he does not like me either. It's a male thing I guess because he LOVES my son.

She is also the most beautiful gold/orange iguana I have ever seen.
