from what I have heard, sometimes ingesting non-food items can cause a prolapse. For example, mebbe alot of strands of hair that somehow wrapped and knotted and as the fecal mass is passed along wiff the hair, the hair may be caught somehow with the intestinal wall, causing the prolapse. Or..say a hard vegetable stem (or something similar) punctures the intestinal wall and as it is being passed along with the fecal matter, pulls the intestine along.
