: TL you stated your case very well! No matter what the animal is there will be problems including bad breeders (i.e. puppy farms) so we can't absolutely count on captive breeding being the answer for reptiles/amphibians (any of them). But I do think, IMHO, that it is a step in the right direction plus changing the US's importation laws & other countries' probably but I am not familiar with those AND education of the public. I hope/pray that the NYC law will be reversed/rescinded.....this is a case where iguanas (& others) are going from the frying pan into the fire. I'm sure that those who own igs there would have liked to have seen something happen to protect the igs' well-being but instead a city banned them and there will be endangered igs now. *sigh*
: If there were a simple answer to the problems faced by iguanas, life would be easier.
: iZ's Mom said: "maybe all that REALLY matters here, is that we all have the same goal, just different ideas of how to get there ... we all want healthy animals and happy homes for them ... right? right ..."
: On that I think ALL of the iguana forum here can agree!!
I never wanted a lizard that gets as long as I am tall and wouldn't have one now if my daughter hadn't brought one home. I already knew what a Green Iguana was.
And if I didn't know and wanted to buy the cute, little lizard at the pet walloper's place and found out what it was, I'd shine it on in favor of something else in a heartbeat!
What it amounts to is, and how many times have we heard this sh*t, educate the public.
Again, great discussion,
filthy
