TL you stated your case very well! No matter what the animal is there will be problems including bad breeders (i.e. puppy farms) so we can't absolutely count on captive breeding being the answer for reptiles/amphibians (any of them). But I do think, IMHO, that it is a step in the right direction plus changing the US's importation laws & other countries' probably but I am not familiar with those AND education of the public. I hope/pray that the NYC law will be reversed/rescinded.....this is a case where iguanas (& others) are going from the frying pan into the fire. I'm sure that those who own igs there would have liked to have seen something happen to protect the igs' well-being but instead a city banned them and there will be endangered igs now. *sigh*
If there were a simple answer to the problems faced by iguanas, life would be easier.
