Hi Repluver ....BANG!
j/k beardies are most welcome too! but......alfalfa pellets as a staple is a big no-no ..way too much protein content for any herbivore (enter Beavis) and when ya buy those pellets in 25 or 40 lb bags tell the manager you want to see the original bag(from bulk feed co.) or get a composition or nutrient analysis of it.
Most will list animal protein as part of its ingredients...cuz bulk pellets are designed to beef up rabbits ;fatten em up quick for food or for speeding up production. Others will list soy as its primary ingredient. Only iglets need a little more protein than adults. Once sexually mature need to cut the protein considerably otherwise your looking at contributing factors to kidney disease by age 5. I'd slowly get rid of the pellets even if used as a substrate, and add more greens...do this for your beardie 2. The rabbit pellets just don't offer a nutritional balance/complete diet that they need to make it. You won't see the damage done from long term usage of that junk until much later...kidney disease is slow......progressive....chronic...and once kidney failure hits....a dead ig within two weeks...guaranteed! If your looking for fiber and protein stick with the hays...like alfalfa hay or timothy hay at least your getting what you pay for
cut it finely (remove any rigid blades/sticks)and wet add to her salad... don't expect any thank yous from her tho....iguanas tend to lack those social graces (well my two brats do anyways ;o)
