Lizzy is a free roamer, but she's tub trained. She also 3 1/2 feet long, so she's pretty easy to find. I don't know how big your ig is. Get her/him tub trained first. They like to poop in water. Each morning I feed Liz and put her in the tub to swim. She stays in the tub until she poops. I used to have to get her out, but she's big enough now that she can climb out on her own. She doesn't like the poopy water and will not sit in it at all. Once she learned the routine, she never has accidents. She only poops once a day. (She's currently gravid and that makes her break the rules temporarily, but she usually will find tile to poop on.)Normally Lizzy has her two or three favorite spots in the house and that's where she can always be found. But because she gravid now, she roams continually and climbs into every window and tries to crawl every glass door. She stands up on her hind legs and scratches the door just like a dog. I'm sure when she lays her eggs she'll be back to normal. Make sure the dogs won't mess with her/him before you choose to let her roam. Allow her some high places to climb; that's where she feels safe. Lizzy climbs my curtain and sits on top of my valance sometimes. Hope I've been some help.
