Ziggys Mom,
We have 3 dogs and we don't allow them to be inside when we have Lola and Harry out roaming. We also have 3 cats which don't give the igs a second look. Please note one thing, with dogs IF something would happen, chances are....there would be no second chance. With cats, unless you have a alley cat, igs can pretty much defend themselves against cats. One quick whip of the tail will make most cats run for the hills.
But when you're talking about 60 pounds or more against 4 to 8 pounds.....there is no match, the dog would win. I, in my opinion, would not do it in your case, knowing the dogs you have.
We try to give our igs roaming time at least once or twice a week inside.....and this doesn't "kill" the dogs to stay outside for a few hours! LOL
No poop training is 100%.....there will also be the chance of a accident. If a ig is upset about something.....you can count on that accident!!! Sometimes they like to show you just how upset they are! If you clean the area where the accident was( using a recommended disinfected--do a search on forum for ideas), your worries about Salomella should not be a concern.
