Hi Frank and welcome!

He's in the honeymoon phase...yes he's prolly a little sad but stressed (laying at bottom)because of the new enviroment.Try to duplicate as much as you can his routine and diet as the previous owners had (hopefully you can get ahold of them to ask also find out when the last time he had bloodwork, and/or was wormed) Expect him to go off feed and this change of behavior to last a few weeks. If your new ig is in with your old ig...this can be quite stressful too. Usually best to introduce them in neutral territory and hopefully your other ig is a female. My male ig turned into Dr. Jekyll with other igs (male-female he didn't care) as he approached 5 y/o.Not saying this will happen but male+male igs =trouble in my experience....no cage is big enough for 2 males ....issues of territoriality and dominance result in unpredicatable aggression and injury.I'd say in two weeks time if he isn't perking up then a trip to the vets may be warranted.Good luck to you Frank and do keep us posted.
Gina
