Hey Thom...
Being the mom of a mated pair of igs I can only say that now seems to be one of the seasons they go through. Mine have been pretty frisky themselves. I can't separate mine. They are too attached to each other. Where Pig goes, Kermit follows. Pig has stopped laying also so I don't worry about eggs. I just let them do what comes natural to a certain point. If Kermit starts getting too mean...meaning too many bites on Pig, then I intervine when possible. While Pig was laying, she would lay in December. And I never hatched any eggs because as the other people said...you have to have homes set up for about 40 baby igs and hatching is a pain in the rump if you don't know what your doing. I'm just very glad that Pig isn't laying anymore because I lost another female to egg binding and couldn't go through that again...not with my Piglet anyway!

: Well, my 2-1/2 male and female have been getting down and dirty (sure that's enough of an explanation)... Wondering what I have to expect (other than possible fertilized eggs). Anyone know what the time frame(s) are, other than putting sand in the bottom of the cage (with large hiding area), etc... and what care should be given the female? At least he was fairly gentle, and she submitted. I've heard horror stories of the male nearly crushing the female's head. Had I known they were in the midst of their season, probably would have separated them to keep her safe! Their so tame, I've still been handling, petting, etc with no problems.
