Having delt with businesses this size for many years,I
can tell you that the only managers and employees they have
there are people that have to be told what to do every day and
have little or no ambition in life. And since it is corporate,
corporate has final word. Your managers follow the rules, period,
regardless of whether they make sense or not.

If you are wondering why such businesses hire high school and other
types of cheap, know nothing labor, it is because the bottom line rules.
Each store has to post X amount of net profit each month and each quarter.
Cheap labor, cheap animals and cheap product is the only way to go to keep
those increasing profits coming. They really don't care what they happen to
sell, as long as it is profitable and keeps customers coming in.

Unfortunately, you rock the boat. What you want to do costs money. That is a
major negative. In these places it is do what your told and keep your mouth shut.
I think you can do a much better job on the outside applyling pressure, than on the
inside trying to buck management and corporate. Good luck.
