All things taken into account... you should steer away from iguanas. Wait until you are out on your own and finish college (are ready to settle down). They bite and whip and cost a lot of money, take a lot of room, etc... If you are very serious about getting a reptile... I would suggest a bearded dragon or gecko etc. Bearded dragons are AWESOME and are generally friendlier, much smaller and are quite a bit of fun.
This is not to say that beardies don't require vet bills and a fair amount of money for UV lights, cage supplies, and insects/veggies-- but judging from the rest of your concerns, they would fit in better to your lifestyle than an iguana.
And I'm not sure what you mean by your SUBJECT heading-- hopefully you don't EVER want to breed iguanas because there is NO NEED FOR THAT! This is the equivalant to you saying you want to breed stray cats! There are tons up for adoption and nobody wants them. Not many people can deal with a 6foot monster that bites, whips, and scratches.
