First thing, you know that when mating season comes, the last thing you want is a Male iguana in a school with a bunch of fingers pokin' in his cage!! ( there might just be a couple less) Male iguana's can get alittle over aggressive during mating season. My suggestion would be, to either have a cage for him at your home during this time, or be very cautious leaving him at school. A full size male iguana could take a kids finger off.
If this cage would be it's full time home, my suggestion would be a 6'x6'x6'. And if you can get the shop class to build one, have them make it with hinges that break apart. The reason for this would be so you can get it out the classroom door. Install one set of fixed wheels and one set of swivel wheels on both halves. When schools out for the summer, you can take the cage home with you for the summer. Also, if your school has an area where you could move the cage so the that iguana gets direct sunlight ( unfiltered) that would be a plus.
