BTW Igs have been imported from Peru for many years. Unamussed and bored, Iguana03
Pg 146 of Hatfield's book shows US fish and wildlife to have imported
over 75,500 iguanas from Peru in recent years. Many of such green iguanas being imported are not even listed on these figures, so we can assume many more were imported as well.
When US fish and Wildlife do an inspection, they do not count through shipments of 1000 green iguanas, usually way more than 1000 are brought in to offset a number of babies that would die in transit.
For more information, contact the US Fish and Wildlife office of management authority at (703) 358-2104.
I have filled out CITES forms many times in the past so if you need a specific contact person who usually helps me, let me know. I think you will find plenty of info to substantiate Iguana03's post.
