: Hi, all
: For those of you who are not on the IML, I thought I'd sent this and plead for some help.
: Today on the IML, a young guy who is very into making iguana information better, was checking out the ZooMed site. There is a reasonably new ad up for a hot rock which is "ideal" for iguanas. It also features a pic of a scrawny little iggy perched on a hot rock. A bunch of us from the IML have been sending emails (and even a few snail mails) to ZooMed telling them why it was wrong to do this. I sent a looooong email with 2 very grusome pics attached of iguanas who have been badly injured by hot rocks. I plan on sending them a snail mail, too, with said photos enclosed. Some people have been taking an offensive stand, telling them that they are wrong and basically suck. Most have been using a more civil approach, which is what I did and what I believe is most effective. Many have anlready gotten replies (I haven't) and most of the replies are exactly the same saying this:
: Dear Consumer,

: We have received your concerns regarding Iguanas and our Repticare Rock
: Heaters. A rock heater should NEVER be the sole source of heat in any
: type
: of terrarium.

: We appreciate quality feedback from our customers, as this is how we
: improve our products. Our Research & Development team will work in
: conjunction with the President of Zoo Med Laboratories, Inc. to increase
: awareness of the proper use of rock heaters.

: Sincerely,

: Zoo Med Laboratories, Inc.

: Basically, they are getting the brush off. I expect I will get a similar reply, to which I will reply. I don't plan on being easily 'brushed off.'
: What I would like is to see you all (or at least some) send some of your own disgruntled emails. For all the good it will do us, I still think that if they recieve multiple letters, they may start to pay attention. Please don't be the person that waits to let the other people do it: It will only take a few minutes of your time and it's for a very, very good cause. C'mon! Check out the page and email them at zoomed@zoomed.com.
: Thanks! :)

: Best,
: Jamie/JBug
