UV lights do improve color and stimulate production of Vitamin D3. They are a good supplement to any herps cage. I even use them for my frogs, not daily but everyother day or so to make sure they get what they need as it often gets too hot here to keep them outside. You dont have to use UV, but I like to be safe so later if something does happen I do not have to be sorry. But it is your choice, I read your other post on one of the lizard forums, and as long as your herp is getting its vitamins another way. Cheers :)~< Andy
