: I have 2 horned lizards. One is fine, runs plays sleeps and everything fine. But the other one i'm afraid is going to die. hes very skinny, dosnt barie himself when he sleeps and dosnt eat. also he just stands around and stands like a arch with his chin and tail in the sand and the rest in the in the air. There both in a 55gal tank. i have the lights on each side and have it so that the temp is 80-100, by what everone says this is fine. there is shade, water, and rocks in there. we feed them small cricks and we though a few large ones in there, i would say about 2-3 large. We dont know what is wrong. he will put water in a small suringe and he will drink that sometime him self and we have tried to give deloted pediolite (recomened by vet). Please help. I really dont want to lose this one. hes about 3-4 month that we have had them

:It sounds like the HL has a dietary deficiency. Feeding them crickets is probably the cause. The deficiency is caused by the crickets having too much fat and a more alkaline pH. In time the cricket diet causes excessive fat build up in the system and the HL metabolism cannot compensate. Try to keep the HL hydrated and provide water, distilled, either by misting regularly and/or by eyedropper. Do not force feed water or food. Get the ants as soon as possible, at least for the other HL. I do not think the HL will recover, but maybe... The pediolite, diluted, might help. Be prepared for the worst though. Once HLs get past a certain point in declining health, there is little that can be done. Lester G. Milroy III
