If you have followed any of the debates on this forum you would've seen that no one has come up with any literature to support the detriment of rodent diets. Even those people who say that rodents worthy cause of death of their hognose, do not have a necropsy to support it. I can assure you however, that a full-grown live mouse can do more harm to a hognose than any of the claims of the anti-rodent people. What your friend is doing is extremely a responsible and is endangering the health of the hognose. Please speak with him that once to tell him he is risking life of his animal and is doing something extremely inhumane, as hognoses do nothing to kill their prey before they swallow it.
Western hognoses are easy to get to feed on rodents, this should not be an issue for this species.
