Their willingness to eat toads dominates exponentially over rodents. If they get toads and then are offered no more, they will simply want to wait it out until another toad hops along. You can use a live toad in the bait-and-switch method, but otherwise it makes it much harder. I am still working on a WC Eastern that has been captive and eating scented mice for over a year now. It does not seem interested in nonscented mice at all.
