Frustration!

A friend gave me a real beaut of an Eastern hatchling about a month ago. It was w/c on a farm. Trouble is, as soon as he gave it to me, a cold snap passed thru and all the toads went into the deep sleep. None to be found!
Well, first I tried it on the normal stuff, but now I'm just watching the poor little blighter waste away.
Where to find toads in the winter?
I'm in Austin, TX. and getting sadder.
