I have actually found several in this area (Gillespie County) and they were all this sort of dark gray/light gray pattern. They don't seem to become completely melanistic but they don't show much yellow as adults either. Kind of pretty easterns, IMHO.
:The ugly white patch towards the tail is of course "hognose body paint" (i.e. uric acid).
Great looking eastern! I really like the light grey saddles. I don't think I've seen one like it before.
You should have told us that the "ugly white patch" was piebaldism (LOL).
