:I was recently given an eastern which exhibits a lot of orange/red flecking. Will this increase or decrease with age, or simply stay the same. It is a new young snake from this year and I'd guess perhaps only a month or so of age. It is fat and healthy, too. Found in Austin, TX with a clutchmate.

Easterns from some localities retain their orange coloration but most lose it as they mature. I've seen some fantastic orange specimens from Maryland. I'm not really sure about the ones from Austin.
