A small amount of pinworms is unlikely to be clinically relevant. The problem lies with their direct life cycle in a captive environment. This combination can easily produce a "super infection". For this reason many vets choose to treat even a small number of pinworms. The treatment regimen suggested by Klingenberg is fenbendazole (panacur) at 25 mg/kg *once* daily for three days. Repeat this 3 day cycle again after 7 to 10 days and recheck the faecal.
