Never heard of penicillin used in snakes. You might try it if you have no other choice, but baytril is readily availabe and rather cheap from any vet. Resp infections are almost always treated with baytril. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic but it seems to work especially well in the respiratory system. I would go with the latter, as it has been proven effective, but it is, ultimately, your choice. Good luck.
