colds, flu, and other "human" ailments...

Hi,
What's the general thought on transmitting colds, flu, etc. to our snakes? I always try to wash my hands before handling my snakes to avoid such possibilities, but what about when I am ill?
I am much more hesitant to handle/feed my snakes if I feel sick, and I certainly take extra precautions. But what's the feeling on this one? Am I being overly cautious? Duffy
