Its great you have a vet appointment so that any advice you get can be compared to the vets advice. I don't know hoe severe the mouth rot is and whether some excess pus can be removed from the mouth. I had a Cal. King with mouth rot 2 years ago. I used a Q-tip and soaked it in Listerine mouthwash and swabbed the inside of the mouth thoroughly 1-2 times a day. It cleared up within a few weeks.
