I cannot argue the point, but will point out that I am going by what medical professioinals use, and by what is sold in drug stores labelled as DISINFECTANT ALCOHOL - this stuff is approximately 90% alcohol not 70%. It is not as easy to find as is Rubbing Alcohol, but it is available in some of the larger, better stocked drug stores. Now why would it be sold under that label if disinfecting is not what it was meant to do.
Rubbing alcohol at about 70% alcohol concentration, on the other hand, is sold as RUBBING alcohol for use in cleansing skin, massage and so forth. I would think it is labelled as RUBBING alcohol by the companies that sell it for a reason, as opposed to it being labelled as DISINFECTANT alcohol. If 70% alcohol solution was the best for disinfecting, wouldn't they label it as Disinfectant Alcohol instead of Rubbing Alcohol?
I also know that when my wife had to take medical injections, three times weekly, for a one year period, she was instructed to obtain alcohol wipes that were 90% strength as opposed to the lesser strength, or to buy a bottle labelled DISINFECTANT alcohol at 90% strength.
By the way, I have only seen this strength available in Isopropyl Alcohol.
Best regards,
