I still think you should think about a modular false bottom, or a drain of some sort; just to keep from acumulating too much stagnent water. Stagnent water in a viv can lead to some pretty nasty (even toxic!) anarobic bacteria loads.

Email me if you want to pick my brain more on drainage ideas (most of my ideas are fairly simple in practice, but I tend to get long-winded in explaining them, so email would be better than clogging up the forum with them).
