It's a little late for brumation.Where are you brumating them?You have to make sure it stays between 45 - 55 degrees.You should have a water bowl that they can soak in with them.Most of my garters soak the entire 6 weeks.I would check on them only once or twice the entire time.
Did you find these in the middle of winter?I f you did I would,nt bother brumating them.Either keep them at normal temps or let then go when it is warm enough.
