fish to big???

I have just gotten my garter snake to eat ( finally) I gave her one small goldfish and she ate it with no problem. The second one I gave her seemed to be about the same size as the first but she seems to be having trouble eating. She gets it about 1/4 of the way in then spits it back out again. Should I take it out?
