Since the snake is 35 inches long I would think you would not need to feed
him that often. Garters and water snakes do eat more often than rat snakes
but he is not really putting any energy into growing so if it were me I
probably would be feeding him every 5 to 6 days. (you would have much less
mess to clean up!) I have a pair of Mangrove water snakes and I just feed
them once a week but I try to give them quite a few fish at each feeding.
Try getting bait store minnows instead of gold fish, I'm sure he will still
eat them. Some people try to change them over to mice but since he is an
adult that may not be that easy.
