Two months ago my 14 year old son caught a Florida blue (we live in Jacksonville, Fl) which was identified by a reptile store and by the local university (you know us moms, have to be sure). It is 35.5 inches long which they said was pretty big.
I looked up it's diet on the Florida snakes web site and it said it ate toads and fish. It was eating two VERY large toads every other day (yes, somehow even with its tiny little head). Then it got cold and the toads went away. Now it is eating ten big gold fish every other day.
My questions... I saw a post on this board that they should not be given gold fish. What type of fish can he have? He seems to enjoy fishing. If fish are out of the question then what should he be eating if we cant find toads?
Also, he has already shed twice in just the two months we have had him. Is this normal?
