Tadpoles hehe, some questions

Okay, i was at a friends house today, and she had a canal by her house, and theres TONS of tadpoles in there. So we caught like 12, and i have them in a 2.5 gallon tank with like 1-2 inches of water and a few rocks. I was smart enough not ot put them with my fbt's hehe. Im pretty sure they are toads, I doubt their frogs, not here in the desert. But all I have to feed them is fish flakes, will they even eat them?
