Bed a beast and live plants

Will my live plants that I have in my terirum grow in bed a beast? I have been using potting soil as a substrait, but I am planning on switching to bed a beast. Will I be able to plant the plants directly in the bed a beast, or will I need to pot them? Thanks for the help. -Bryan
