If anyone has a similar situation, please let me know. My frilled dragon, Gunsen, is about a year and a half old and as far as I can tell in good health. He began shedding, but some of the shed on his frill towards the edges looked a little waxy & yellow. I put some Neosporin on it to kill any bacteria and loosen it up. It has *very* rapidly grown worse, over the course of 2 days it spread several inches. After it gets waxy, scales start flaking off and the frill hardens and becomes brittle and cracking. I took him to the vet immediately. He's an experienced reptile vet, but has never seen anything like this on a frilled before. He suggested either necrosis or gangrene. He said that necrosis sometimes happens in iguanas, where they just get some bacteria in their extremities and just rot away. I don't think it's gangrene because he was not injured before and I keep him in a nice clean enviroment. I've got Gunsen on Baytril prescribed by the vet, but the infected area is just getting larger and larger. The results from the lab will not be in until Monday and I don't know what to do in the meantime. Has anyone heard of this? Is it necrosis? Can anything be done about it? Please help!!!
