I have yet to hear of a Black-bellied Slender from San Diego County; although Garden Slenders are fairly common. Did you happen to photograph it?? The garden Slender can be large, often resembling a nightcrawler. Also the Garden Slender often has conspicuous rust colored blotches about its tail.
