In Reply to: thanks, exactly what i wanted to know . . . one more Q posted by Troy H on April 15, 2000 at 09:54:05:
On both accounts I have heard rumors/stories of mountain kings at both locations. I heard from a very credible source that there are zonata in some of the east flowing drainages off the Kern range. The White/Inyo Mtns are more of the rumor type like ranchers who claim they saw a tricolor. Could be a long-nosed or a zonata or possibly a pyro. Looking at the topography of the ranges, my guess is that it is a pyro and it is in one of the east flowing stream canyons. West side is steep as hell! Be my guest to be the one to prove it.
: now i'll just have to get out my map and look it over to check out the locations you mentioned.
: one more question:
: are there zonata in the sierras east of the kern canyon? i really wish that CA had a good field guide like the one from NM that shows (at least) all museum records for the state with little dots - then i wouldn't have to bug you guys about it.
: oh, i guess i have 2 questions -
: would you care to comment about about the possibility of mt kings (i.e. possible pyros) in the white range, inyo mts, etc?
