My next door neighbor saw me bringing a mouse rack into the "mouse room" She said 'What's that'... I was sort of busy moving the mouse rack, so I just said "Furniture" and went about my business. She called the city inspector and complained of smell (i clean mouse cages twice a week). Inspector came out and said he didn't smell anything. I hate nosy neighbors. But from the article it seems likely that something wasn't kosher.... whether it wasn't Kosher from a feeder production standpoint, or a "i hate mice" standpoint is the real question in my mind.
