How long can gerbils keep producing litters averaging 9 before they will need a break? We have 3 pairs feeding their 3rd consecutive litter each, and so far in all 9 litters the smallest has been 8 and the largest has been 10. All 3 females are keeping their weight but I can't help but to think that they're going to tire out well before they should. I've read that 3-6 per litter is about average, with a total of somewhere around 30 for the duration of breeding?
