...appparently your mice/rats have never chewed a hole in one of your bottles or you would know this already. Even a small hole ruins it.

You need to wash the bottles before refilling them anyway.

If you have so many tubs that this really is time consuming, you should use the gray search box above to read the posts already here about switching to a DIY automatic watering system.
