Is it possible that the oil from the sunflower seeds is too heavy for them? Most insect bedding or chow doesn't seem to have much oil or fat content.

The cricket chow recipe I use has some sunflower seeds in it but not enough to make it feel oily.

Also, I noticed in your post below that you were asking about water for the super beetles. You can try to use a sheet of paper towel or newspaper and lightly mist it. The beetles will get their moisture from the paper. When doing this you have to go very lightly and don't leave the paper there too long or you will get mold and spoil the bedding/feed.

I found that when I was keeping supers that they seemed to like sweet potatoes and carrots.
