the sunflower seeds or anything else by itself. It is possible that the problem is in the proportions you used. There is a very good recipe for cricket gut load that also makes excellent mealworm and superworm gut load. I know it is recommended that you freeze most of it and keep a portion refrigerated. Just take out what you need to gut load before feeding to your reptiles.
Use something simple like the chicken layer mash or other crumble type feed, bran or oats for bedding and then use the good stuff to gut load 24-48 hours before offering to your reptiles.
