:As it is right now I have the strong temptation to just CO2 that rat, but my husband has talked me into keeping her until I can get her to give me some pups with her genetics (I wanted some blue rats) that I can then foster to some of my better rat moms. Otherwise all the money spent on purchasing her and the loss of all those pups was just a complete waste.
Absolutely don't dispose of her yet. The problem was that you introduced her at the wrong time. IF you'd put her in there a week before the babies were born, the other rats would have had time to get used to her and work out their order of dominance. The mama of those babies was feeling threatened by the stranger in their midst.
Your best bet is to start a second colony. If you want to breed blues, the quickest way you can accomplish that objective is to breed her a.s.a.p., raise the best one of her male pups to breeding age, and mate it back to her.
