Lost my year old corn. HELP!!

I got my first corn snake two days ago (its a yearling) and in my excitement I must have missed a tiny crack in the vivarium wall (so tiny it must be a magician to get out of there). Anyway I was told by an experienced herp keeper to leave it alone for a few days - but when I saw no sign of it I decided to search the vivarium. It was gone. I am terribly upset as it is my first snake and a life long dream - and I lost it within two days! I live in a flat so I am worried it could easily move to a neighbours flat. Is it common to lose Corns and if so where are the most typical places to look? Should I put a pinkie out? I feel helpless.
