I am located in the Panhandle of Texas, semidesert/grassland, low rainfall, moderate winters, hot summers, low humidity.
Mostly I am leaning towards native types of animals, w/ probably another snake or two. What is another good snake for this part of the country? Yes, local, native snakes are fine with me. A few of the kids keep wanting pythons, boas, and anacondas, too bad, not for me. The aquatic turtle set-up and lepard gecko set-up sounds interesting and I may do one and/or the other. Think I may also go with a land turtle/tortise (I have a contact to get free ones). I am trying to stay away from too much water. I get tired of cleaning my fish tank, I don't want more of that. Terrestrial animals seem to "require" less maintainence. At least I don't get soaked and flood my room everytime I clean my snake tank (my wild water cleanings also gets me out of doing the dishes at home many times). Thanks Mike and Dmitri for the info. I'm always open to suggestions.
