I have rose of sharon trees in my back yard. I ma not sure if they would like a tropical environment, they seem to like the cool weather of New Jersey. They are not the same as hibiscus, although the flowers look similar. Hibiscus is more of a bush, and the flowers are nearly twice as big as the rose of sharon flowers. My dragons killed my ficus, but they seemed to like it. I don't think any plant can survive being tromped on by dragons.
